September 9 In light of recent incidents of violence and racial tension in communities across the United States, Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has invited Catholics across the country to unite in a Day of Prayer for Peace in Our Communities. The Bishops Conference asks Catholics around the country to gather on or around September 9 to pray, reflect, and discern action steps. Two USCCB web pages provide resources: (1) Go to
WeAreSaltAndLight.org and click on “success stories” to read about grass-roots efforts to build relationships among diverse communities and effect change, including a story that features Holy Trinity parish and Dallas Area Interfaith; (2) Go to
usccb.org and search “racism” to find bishops’ statements, videos, prayer and liturgy resources, teaching materials, articles and more.
