About Us

Your Parish In The Heart of Dallas

Holy Trinity Catholic Church has been serving the Oak Lawn community at the corner of Oak Lawn Ave. and Blackburn for over 100 years. We serve a diverse and growing community from all over the Dallas area. Please take some time to explore our ministries and opportunities. You will find that we offer something for everyone, proving that “All Are Welcome” at Holy Trinity!

Our History

Holy Trinity, now nestled in a bustling city, originated as a mission church a century ago in the sparsely populated areas of Oak Lawn and Highland Park. Bishop Edward J. Dunne convinced the Vincentian Fathers to establish Holy Trinity College in ‘Far North’ Dallas. The college, later renamed the University of Dallas, and a small frame church were built in 1905. Father Patrick A. Finney, a scholar of Greek, served as the college’s organizer and Holy Trinity’s first pastor.

Despite the college closing in 1926, the Vincentian Fathers continued their missionary efforts in North Texas, traveling long distances to small mission churches. The parish thrived, recording 800 families in 1939.

In the late 1950s and early 60s the Vincentians’ missionary focus shifted inward, coinciding with increased interest in the Catholic Church in Dallas. Formation classes led to numerous conversions, averaging 50-60 a year.

Today, Holy Trinity continues its missionary tradition through lay ministries engaging in community service. This commitment to outreach sets Holy Trinity apart, drawing families from beyond its parish boundaries. In essence, Holy Trinity remains, in many ways, a mission church.

Our Values

At Holy Trinity, our mission is clear: to embrace all with acceptance and extend compassionate outreach to the most poor and vulnerable. Rooted in a century-old legacy, we celebrate diversity, recognizing the value of every individual. Inspired by Christ’s teachings of love, we actively engage in service to uplift the poor, vulnerable and needy. Our ministries focus on addressing pressing community needs, offering material assistance and spiritual support. Grounded in our Vincentian heritage, Holy Trinity envisions a world where everyone’s inherent dignity is not just acknowledged but celebrated. Join us in being a catalyst for positive change, fostering a community of acceptance, justice, and unwavering compassion.
